With this, whether I'm listening to local mp3s, pandora, slacker radio, etc, the button pauses and resumes music.As a warning, I tried using this adapter with a pair of ipod earbuds on my XM Skyfi3 and it ruined the earbuds. I bought this adapter to use with my Droid. I love my phone, but it's a pain when you have to take the phone out, unlock it, and then pause the music player when you need to talk to someone. Don't know how it happened but it did. Luckily the same thing didn't happen to my Droid.
My last two Blackberry devices (Curve and Bold) have come with hands free headphones that just do not fit in my ears. This adapter allows me to use any generic set of headphones as a hands free device. Additionally, it allows me to listen to music stored on my phone through any device with a standard headphone jack.
